Toyota will decide the future of Allan McNish with the team soon, according to president Ove Andersson. McNish is in his debut season of Formula One and has not had the best of times so far, being outperformed by team mate Mika Salo. Andersson said that no decision had been made as yet but he thinks McNish has been unlucky this season.

"We have to consider it very soon, but there has been no decision made yet," he commented in a live chat with ITV-F1. "For me, they (McNish and Salo) have done a good job this season and are doing a good job but I wouldn't like to make a comparison. I do think he (McNish) is unlucky. It's really an uphill struggle for him."

A few drivers have been linked with Toyota recently in the rumour mill, including Jenson Button, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld. McLaren's David Coulthard was the most recent name linked to the team and Andersson said he would be interested in the Scot: "If he was on the market and he gave me a ring, of course I'd sit down and talk to him."

But for the moment Toyota are not looking for a big name to join the team as Andersson thinks it would put too much pressure on them: "At the moment, no. Longer term maybe. To have a big name driver, especially now, would just put a lot of pressure on us that we don't need. And as a man responsible for a team, I think they're paid far too much."
