Hot on the heels of Toyota's double points finish in the German Grand Prix, the team announced it will retain will both Olivier Panis and Cristiano da Matta for 2004. Frenchman Panis finished fifth and Brazilian da Matta sixth at Hockenheim after a trouble free race.

"I am pleased to reconfirm that both Olivier and Cristiano will drive with Panasonic Toyota Racing for the 2004 season," said Toyota team principal Ove Andersson in a statement released on August 5th.

"They have both performed very well throughout this season -- and have played an integral role in developing the TF103 race car."

"We look forward to continuing our work with both Olivier and Cristiano as one team to try to aim for a higher position in the constructors' standings in the remaining races of this season and to build upon our highly commendable performance in 2004."

Panis and Da Matta were new signings for Toyota in 2003, replacing former drivers Allan McNish and Mika Salo. Panis previously drove for BAR and da Matta was 2002 CART champion. Toyota is currently sixth in the Constructors' standings, one point behind BAR.
