The Formula One Russian Grand Prix circuit is ready for its first demo run
“Formula Sochi 2013” will take place on the Formula One circuit at the Olympic Park
Sochi, Russia – September 20th, 2013: On September 27, the motorsport show “Formula Sochi 2013” will take place on the Formula 1 circuit at the Olympic Park. The demo run of racing cars will be held on a part of the track for Russian Grand Prix for the first time.
Oleg Zabara, Deputy General Director for organization of Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix, OJSC “Center “Omega”: “The show “Formula Sochi 2013” on a part of the Formula 1 circuit at the Olympic Park was made possible largely due to the substantial progress made on the track.
"The laying of asphalt base course is completed. The second layer of asphalt on the part of the circuit for demonstration races is laid. 2 500 kerbs are installed along the track. Construction of the circuit infrastructure is 80 percent complete.
Finishing work and facade works of the Pit Building and the Race Control Building continue to move forward. The reinforced concrete framing of the Main Grandstand has grown significantly over the last few weeks. Team Buildings and Medical Center, as well as a helipad are ready. It's safe to say that the circuit for the Grand Prix is ready to host Demo run of Formula 1 cars.
The show at Formula 1 circuit is truly a milestone event. For the first time racing cars will sample the track on which the Russian round of Formula 1 World Championship will be held next year”.
