Changes to the rules governing winter testing are to be discussed ahead of the San Marino GP with the FIA proposing to lengthen the ban on testing until the end of December.

The current regulation prevents teams testing at circuits from the last race until December 1st.

The belief in the paddock however is that the existing arrangement already places too much pressure on the teams - and that any change will only add to the difficulty in getting ready for the new season.

Several teams are believed to harbour such reservations. And for the change to be ratified all 11 would have to agree. Discussions between them are expected to take place before the San Marino GP next week.

The FIA initiative was brought about in an effort to cut costs for the teams however they believe that it may merely have the opposite effect.
