Rubens Barrichello arrived late on Thursday afternoon at Hockenheim, as his flight was delayed leaving Faro in Portugal. Rubens was asked if the fact he was being allocated the T-car for the rest of the season represented a new status within the team.

"There has always been one priority and that is the team," said Rubens. "I have always had all the support possible, both technical and moral. It's clear that now, for the last few races, without the pressure of the championship, both me and Michael should be able to enjoy ourselves a bit more."

As for the last French GP that on balance the Magny-Cours weekend was not all bad. "Of course I was unhappy after not starting. I had left to go and fly to Portugal as I wanted to spend some time with my family, especially my sister who was going back to Brazil on Monday," continued Rubens. "However, when I knew Michael had won, I had to go back and a bad weekend was transformed into a fantastic day, because it was great for Michael and the team and therefore for me."
