Lewis Hamilton's whistle-stop tour of awards ceremonies continues unabated with the latest recognition for his stellar 2014 season coming at the British Racing Driver's Club annual gala in London.
Following the FIA awards last Friday and Sunday's Autosport Awards, the world champion collected not one but two prestigious BRDC Gold Stars in the Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London on Monday.
His first Gold Star recognises his performance as the outstanding British performer in international motorsport in 2014, with 11 Grand Prix wins including his home race at the BRDC home at Silverstone.
The second Gold Star is a specific acknowledgment of his success in winning the world championship.
The world champion was also awarded the Graham Hill Trophy for single-seater racing and the Johnny Wakefield Trophy for setting the fastest lap of the season around Silverstone's Grand Prix circuit.
Further achievements in Formula One were recognised with Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo receiving two awards – the Bruce McLaren Trophy and the Innes Ireland Trophy – and Paddy Lowe collecting the Sir Jackie Stewart Award for an outstanding year with the Mercedes F1 Team.
Hamilton is not finished dressing up yet. He is one of 10 sportsmen and women nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, the most prestigious annual general sports award in the UK, which will be announced on Saturday.
Hamilton has yet to win the award having missed out in his previous title year of 2008 to Scottish track cyclist Chris Hoy.
Former winners of the BBC award include John Surtees, Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell (twice) and Damon Hill (twice).Share Or Save This Story
