Renault F1 Chairman and CEO Patrick Faure claims the new FIA ruling that expects an engine to have a six race lifespan is unacceptable. The regulation, announced by the FIA last week along with other cost-cutting measures, is due to be implemented in the year 2006. Faure believes Renault and other members of the Grand Prix World Championship (GPWC) breakaway group will not stay in Formula One if the rule is enforced.

"The plan for an engine for six races is the end of Formula One," Faure said, according to Reuters. "We will not stay in the championship with these kind of rules, clearly, none of us (the GPWC group). What the communiqu? of the GPWC is also saying is that the way things have been announced is slightly aggressive and I do not think it is a way to behave."

The proposed changes have yet to be ratified by the Technical Working Group that met on Friday to discuss the FIA's decisions -- another meeting is due to take place this week. Faure hopes the engine regulation can be clarified.

"We are hoping to find some clarifications on when the measures are going to be implemented. There is still some need for discussion and refinement. The only thing totally unacceptable for us is the engine for six races. The rest we can discuss."
