Just three races remain in a Formula One season that has seen more action than a late night, uncut Jerry Springer Show. Whilst by the time the F1 circus reaches Shanghai's uniquely constructed circuit the drivers' championship may have been decided, the constructors' championship is almost certainly going to be determined by the race's outcome.
On 4th September the Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) whet the appetite of China's adoring motorsport fans, hosting the fourth round of the 2005 Honghe China Circuit Championship with an awe-inspiring one-two performance from Ghiasports racing team in the China-made 2000cc race. The China-made 1600cc race also saw a one-two finish for the Shanghai Volkswagen Racing team.
With the China Championship Cup safely, and successfully, under the proverbial Chinese belt all efforts are being stepped up to ensure that the final round of the 2005 Formula One Championship is even more entertaining than last year's. Indications so far predict that the multi-million dollar circuit, which was completed in record time, will host another 190,000 sell-out event.
Mr Yu, General Manager of the SIC Management and Development Company commented: "I hope this year is an even bigger success than last - we have plenty planned for the spectators and they will not leave disappointed. The new Shanghai development contributed greatly to the local economy last year and this year will see a significant boost to this contribution due to an increased awareness of motorsports in China."
Covering an area of 5.3 square km and featuring 14 intricate turns, the Shanghai Circuit promises to provide non-stop racing entertainment to the privileged spectators. However, if the on-track action isn't enough to keep you entertained the Circuit has a whole host of other activities planned, from music concerts to autograph sessions including one special surprise that will be announced shortly.
