Sergio Perez and the new Cadillac Formula 1 team will step up their preparations with a TPC test with a 2023 Ferrari car at Imola in November.
Perez will not be racing in the Mexico Grand Prix for the first time since the event returned to the F1 calendar in 2015, but that didn’t stop him from visiting Mexico City, where he took part in a charity football match and shared more details about the TPC he will carry out with a Ferrari car.
Perez is already working closely with the US manufacturer, having travelled to Cadillac’s headquarters in Charlotte, before heading to Silverstone, where he held his first meetings with engineers, completed simulation work, and provided feedback for adjustments to his cockpit.
During this period, Cadillac has been simulating race weekend operations, and the next step will be to take the team to the track. That will happen in November at Imola, when Perez takes the wheel of a Ferrari SF-23.

“We’ll have some testing sessions in November. They’ll be very useful because we’ll be able to work with the mechanics and engineers to have the whole team ready for the testing program that begins in January - very early in the year - where we’ll already be at 100 %,” said Perez after the football match in Mexico City, held in a commercial area owned by the Slim family, who have supported him since the beginning of his career.
The six-time grand prix winner explained that, for now, his focus is on “working fully in the simulator and on the physical side to be ready for the comeback”.
When asked about his first impressions of Cadillac, the Mexican said everything has been positive.
“It’s always great to have a team that listens to you, supports you, and values you. That’s what every driver dreams of having,” he said.
