Circuit: Fiorano circuit, 2,976 km - short track 1,413 km Driver: Michael Schumacher, F2002 chassis n° 217 Weather: Air temperature 10-16 °C, track temperature 8/18 °C, clear.

First day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro with the F2002. Michael Schumacher was driving the new Ferrari F1 challenger at its debut, doing the first lap at 9.50 this morning. In the course of the day, Schumacher began working on the development of the F2002. The test finished at 17.40 after 67 laps in total, the fastest being 58.620, establishing thus a record at the Fiorano track.

"The new car's debut today was very promising" - said Michael Schumacher - "I had a good feeling from the first moment I was driving the F2002."

The Scuderia will be testing on two tracks tomorrow: Schumacher will continue with the development of the F2002 at Fiorano while Rubens Barrichello will drive the F2001 at the Mugello circuit.
