Michael Schumacher could make a decision on his future with Formula One this season, perhaps by the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in September, according to his manager Willi Weber. Schumacher will drive for Ferrari next year but his contract runs out at the end of 2004.

It's the future beyond next season that the five-time champion is contemplating; there has been speculation that the German may retire when his current contract expires. But if he decides to stay in F1, it will be with the Scuderia.

"Maybe it will be by Monza or maybe later. But not much later," said Weber, about Schumacher's decision. "He's under contract for next year, so nothing happens. We are talking about after 2004. If he continues after 2004 it will be with Ferrari, that's for sure."

For the moment Michael is concentrating on this year but it seems Ferrari would like to know if they need to start thinking about a replacement for their star driver. Weber said there just hasn't been time for discussions.

"I think the team will also want to know what the situation is," he added. "I believe he will say this year whether he continues driving or not. We haven't spoken yet about the situation because we are working for the races and the championship and there has not been a lot of time to speak about it."
