Team Sauber Petronas began a three-day test today in Valencia in preparation for the French and German Grand Prix. Nick Heidfeld completed 39 laps and set the best time of 1m.14.567s. He will continue the program tomorrow and Felipe Massa will complete it on Thursday.

Giampaolo Dall'ara (Head of test Team):

"This morning our focus was on aerodynamic set-up work and traction control development ready for Magny-Cours and Hockenheim. Unfortunately we had a few technical problems which restricted our running but we resolved these in time to complete most of our program this afternoon when Nick was also able to do some further development on the breaking system. Our plan for tomorrow is to conduct tyre testing on behalf of Bridgestone."

Nick Heidfeld:

"It is good to be back in Valencia which is a circuit I like and with which I am very familiar after all the testing we have done there this year in February and April. Our purpose today was not to set quick lap times but to conduct some of the vital test work which is necessary to improve the car further. We had a productive day and I am pleased with the data we've gathered"
