Sauber and Red Bull are to continue their long-time partnership in 2003, it was confirmed today. The pair first joined forces in 1995 but had an uneasy time in the last couple of years, the sponsor reportedly being put out at the team's decision to take on Kimi Raikkonen in 2001. Red Bull wanted Enrique Bernoldi in the race seat as he already had its backing.

Initially Sauber was to race without the Red Bull logo in 2002 after the partnership was due to be dissolved at the end of 2001. However, in January last year it was announced the partnership would continue after all.

The continuing deal is for one year and the Red Bull logos on the Sauber race cars will be the same as 2002.

"Together with all team members I'm delighted that our partnership with Red Bull will go into its ninth year," said team principal Peter Sauber in a statement released today. "During this long period, Red Bull has been a fundamental support for the team and has thus contributed to our success. Our main sponsors Petronas, Credit Suisse and Red Bull form a solid basis for a successful future of the team."
