Mugello, Thursday, August 23, 2001
Weather: Cloudy but hot; one brief shower
Temperature: Track 45 deg; Air 32 deg
Distance: 72 laps, 378 kms
Kimi Räikkönen completed Team RED BULL SAUBER PETRONAS' three-day test at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello today, prior to the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix. He covered 72 laps and set the fifth fastest time of 1m 26.17s.
Remi Decorzent (Race engineer): "Today we continued our evaluation of our revised aerodynamic package, using Kimi's input, and also focused on assessment of the efficiency of the cooling system. Kimi also did some more work on tyre evaluation for the Belgian Grand Prix, and worked on some brake modifications."
"We got through a lot of useful work today, but I was having some problems with the brakes which led to my spin this afternoon. I locked up the rear wheels under braking and went off the road, but there was no damage just a lot of dirt over the car which took a while to clean up. I also lost time when the track was closed after Michael Schumacher spun, but overall, it's been a positive day and I'm ready for Spa."
