Team Sauber Petronas conducted a three-day test last week at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The first two days Heinz-Harald Frentzen did the driving before Nick Heidfeld took over to complete the test. They covered altogether 185 laps with a best time of 1:22.127. The attention was focused on the evaluation of new aerodynamic parts.

On the first test day the team Sauber Petronas conducted a race simulation of the latest C specification version of the Petronas V10 engine, which has more horsepower than the currently used B unit. This upgraded engine will be used the first time in Monza.

Petronas introduces new "Syntium" lubricant

Due to its higher power output and higher revs, the 03C spec engine that Sauber Petronas uses for the last three races requires an enhanced high-tech lubricant, which was developed by Petronas.

Peter Sauber:

"The lubricant is specially developed to further enhance the viscosity properties that can maintain the engine's performance and guarantees reliability." It is part of the "Syntium" family which was introduced in Formula One in the year 2000. Since then, the "Syntium" oil has been used with great success. At the beginning of the current season, Petronas has also started to use its own fuel called "Primax".
