Team Sauber Petronas started its three-day test at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza today. Heinz-Harald Frentzen conducted the first test day and covered 69 laps in chassis 05 to set a best time of 1:22.651. He will continue tomorrow before Nick Heidfeld will take over on Thursday.

Jacky Eeckelaert (Head of Vehicle Engineering):

"The purpose of our test this week is to prepare the Sauber Petronas C22 for the final Grands Prix this season. Today we have conducted a race simulation of the latest C specification version of the Petronas V10 engine, which has more horsepower than the B unit we are currently using."

"The test today went without problems and we will use the upgraded engine the first time at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza next week. We combined this work with long runs with different sets of tyres for the forthcoming Monza race. Tomorrow a revised car body will be tested with regard to Monza."

Heinz-Harald Frentzen
69 laps, 399.717 kilometres
