Team Sauber Petronas started its three-day test at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza today. Heinz-Harald Frentzen conducted the first test day and covered 69 laps in chassis 05 to set a best time of 1:24.073. He will continue tomorrow before Nick Heidfeld will take over on Thursday.

Jacky Eeckelaert (Head of Vehicle Engineering):

"The purpose of our test this week is to prepare the Sauber Petronas C22 for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal next week, and the Italian Grand Prix in Monza in September. Today we have conducted a race simulation of the latest B specification version of the Petronas V10 engine, which has more horsepower than the A unit we are currently using."

"The test today went without problems and we will use the upgraded engine the first time at the Grand Prix of Europe at the Nürburgring at the end of June. In addition we have assessed tyres for the race in Monza. For tomorrow downforce and tyre testing for Montreal are on the schedule."
