Sauber is the first team to announce its 2005 launch date. The Swiss squad will present the C24 in Kuala Lumpur on 11th January, as part of Petronas' celebration of 10 years in Formula One. The Malaysian oil and gas corporation began its association with Sauber in 1995.

Felipe Massa and Jacques Villeneuve will drive for Sauber next year but the team has not yet made any announcement about a test driver. Neel Jani carried out occasional test duties for the team in 2004.

23 year-old Brazilian Massa raced for Sauber this season and finished 12th overall in the drivers' standings with 12 points. 33 year old Canadian Villeneuve was absent from competition in 2004 until the last three races, when he drove for Renault.
