Just four drivers were on track at Jerez as testing resumed for the final session of 2003. BAR's Takuma Sato, driving the '04 Concept car, topped the times with a 1:25.931 and the team concentrated on development of the rear end of the 2004 car.

Heavy rain curtailed the activity and Sato aquaplaned off track in the afternoon. The car suffered minor damage to the rear wing after hitting the tyre barrier but will be repaired for tomorrow. BAR also had Anthony Davidson on duty and the Briton finished fourth in the 005 chassis.

Felipe Massa returned to the track, this time behind the wheel of a Sauber rather than in his testing role for Ferrari. The Brazilian, who will race for Sauber next year alongside Giancarlo Fisichella, was second fastest. Driving the C22-05 chassis, Massa's programme started with him acclimatizing himself to the car again and tyre work.

Ferrari was the third team present, test driver Luca Badoer setting the third best time of the day. Badoer only put in 12 laps in the poor conditions before deciding the weather was too bad. More teams are expected to join the action tomorrow, including Toyota, McLaren and Williams.
