Malaysian GP - Ross Brawn: 'Not our best weekend' Sepang, 17th March - Despite the fact that Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro left Malaysia with a podium finish, Technical Director Ross Brawn was objective about the team's difficulties in the second round of this year's World Championship.

"Realistically, we were lucky to finish on the podium in the end," stated Brawn. "But it was not our best weekend, as Rubens struggled with the car before suffering an engine failure."

As for the first corner incident between Michael Schumacher and Montoya, Brawn has a clear opinion as to whose fault it was.

"As both cars went together into the first corner, there was not enough space for Michael to get through," reckoned the Englishman. "The stewards saw it the same way. We won the consolation prize in the end but things could have been different if there had not been the incident in the first corner."

Brawn felt the modified F2001 was simply not quick enough in the race.

"Apart from the problem with Rubens' car we struggled a bit today. At the beginning of the race we tried to increase the pace with Rubens but we really were not quick enough. However, it might have been closer without Michael's incident and the strategy we used was the best we could have done with the cars we had."
