Rosberg tops FP3 as Hamilton crashes out

Nico Rosberg led the final practice session of the weekend.

Mercedes went 1-2 in the final practice session at Suzuka, but it wasn't all good news for the silver arrows. Lewis Hamilton crashed out late in the going. Rosberg's fast lap of 1:33.228 was just under a full second better than what his teammate managed. The damage to Hamilton's car is pictured below...

When Hamilton sped towards the first corner, he went straight into the gravel before making contact with the tyre barrier. Fernando Alonso placed third, followed by the Williams duo of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas.

Sebastian Vettel went into FP3 with the earth-shattering announcement that he's leaving Red Bull, but left it with a whimper after mechanical issues plagued his RB10 and forced him to stop. He was scored down in 15th. Despite the major accident involving Hamilton, this was certainly a step down from the chaos we saw in FP2.
