Rosberg livid with Hamilton "compromising" his race
Apr 12, 2015, 12:13 PM

Nico Rosberg has made an astonishing post-race attack on Lewis Hamilton, accusing his teammate of backing him up into Sebastian Vettel and "compromising" his race.

Rosberg's outburst came in the post-race press conference, and Hamilton denied he did anything intentional to hamper Rosberg's race – and added "my job is not to look after Nico's race".

Afterwards, when Rosberg was asked if he felt his race was affected by Hamilton's pace, he replied: "No I didn't feel, it's a fact that my race was compromised.

"It's a scenario we went through in detail before the race. For the individual in front, for himself, the best possible race is to back the guy in second into Sebastian Vettel.

"That's the best result for the driver in front, but not for the team.

"It puts the guy in second into an unnecessary risky position. Did Lewis do it on purpose or not? I don't know, I can't answer that."

Press conference response

Rosberg said he "learnt a lot" from Hamilton's comments in the press conference, which appeared to spark his anger.

"He said in the press conference he was just thinking about himself, that's an interesting statement and indication," he said.

"Of course, I'm frustrated as a result, in the end my stint was compromised and was too long, as I had to cover Sebastian. He tried to attack me with an early pitstop, and so my tyres just died at the end of the race.

"I'm just stating facts, it's impossible to know from the outside what went on. Other facts are that once I pitted his pace was a lot quicker, a lot stronger overall.

"That's another fact that suggests it would have been good for the team if he'd sped up a bit more."

When asked when they will discuss his position, he replied: "It needs to be discussed, we will do it now."
