The FIA has confirmed that China and Japan will swap dates on the 2006 calendar. Japan was previously the third last race and China the penultimate round, but now China will take place on October 1st and Japan on October 8th.

"Following the agreement of the two national sporting authorities, the FASC (Federation of Automobile Sports of the People's Republic of China) and JAF (Japan Automobile Federation), and with the approval of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, the dates of the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix have been swapped," said an FIA statement.

There are no other changes to the 2006 schedule, with Bahrain the season opener on March 12th and Brazil the final race on October 22nd, although the Interlagos event is subject to contract approval.
