The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team today began four days of testing at the Jerez circuit in Spain. With test driver Fernando Alonso visiting the circuit for the first time in a Formula 1 car, the first part of the day was spent establishing base-line set-ups, before beginning a programme which included development of the team's new traction control system and the testing of different front suspension geometries.

Technical Director Mike Gascoyne summed it up as "a useful day," continuing: "Fernando did a solid job getting to know the circuit whilst conducting fruitful suspension and systems work."

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 June, Jarno Trulli will join Fernando Alonso, driving chassis R202-02. The latter will begin a tyre development programme for Michelin, while Trulli will continue work on the traction control system.
