The two Renault F1 drivers went to the Ayrton Senna Renault factory in Curitiba yesterday, and had the chance to meet the personnel of the ultra-modern factory.

Preparation for the Brazilian Grand Prix has already begun. For Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso, this involved visiting the Renault factory 500km to the south of Sao Paulo. The Ayrton Senna factory, which emloys nearly 3000 people on three sites (private cars (Scenic and Clio), industrial vehicles and engines), is one of the most modern car factories in the world. It was opened at the start of 1998 and now assembles over 300 vehicles a day.

Pierre Poupel, the factory's director, showed the two drivers from the Renault F1 Team around personally. They were very impressed, and were able to get an idea of the popularity of F1 in Brazil, and of how much support they had from the people at Renault. They were subjected to interminable cheers, applause and photograph sessions!

"We are all part of the Renault team," said Jarno Trulli, "us on the track, and you here. We are all working under the banner of the same company, and we are proud to do so. We know what a responsibility it is when we are driving, and we shall continue to do the very best we can. Thank you for your support."

After a meal closeby with the managers of Renault's Ayrton Senna factory, the afternoon finished with a friendly game of football, organised by Fernando Alonso.
