A positive first day's testing for the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team in Barcelona, Spain. Beginning the final test session before the summer ban comes into force, the team's work focused on tyre development programmes for the coming races.

In spite of several weather-related interruptions, the team nevertheless managed to complete 146 laps of the Spanish circuit, which equates to two and a half race distances, as well as conducting a routine engine change at lunchtime.

"As this is the final testing session before the summer ban, we concentrated on tyre development, working on long runs with high fuel loads," commented Executive Director of Engineering Pat Symonds. "More than anything, I think we tested Allan today, who had to complete more than two and a half race distances! We also began validating the new aerodynamic package, which performed as well as expected."

The team will continue testing tomorrow, Thursday, 10 July, with Allan McNish at the wheel once more.
