Raikkonen sees no need for Bottas talks after Mexico clash

Having collided on the last lap at Sochi, the pair clashed again as Raikkonen was pitched out of the Mexico race during his battle for position with Bottas at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

With memories still fresh about what happened in Russia, it has been suggested that both drivers would benefit from a chat to ensure there are no lingering tensions.

But Raikkonen does not think such a move is required – and thinks Bottas may even be happy that there has been some amends for what happened in their last collision.

When asked if he would sit down with Bottas, Raikkonen said: “I don't think it helps or changes anything.

"What has happened has happened, but maybe he feels better now after what happened in Russia.

“I have nothing against anybody. This is racing. If he has a better feeling now it is good for him, but things have a certain way of working it out in the long run.

“It's been a shit weekend, but we go for the next one and hopefully at one point certain things will turn around and we start getting a good result.

“It is not nice for me or the team but it is part of the game, and unfortunately we have been going through that for quite a while. I am sure we will get a good result.”

Bottas could have moved

Although he did not blame Bottas directly for what happened, Raikkonen did think his rival could have given him a bit more room.

“Obviously I saw him outside on the previous corner,” he said. “It was tight, but if you ask him for sure he will blame me.

“I am sure if he had gone over the kerb there would have been space. It was quite slippery and he locked a bit the front wheel, but the end result is what it is.

“I had to turn in at some point, I cannot just go straight. I am there in the end. 

"It is pointless to go on as I am sure one guy will say it is one guy's fault, and another will say it is another guy's fault. You guys try to find someone to blame, it doesn't help anybody.”
