Raikkonen says Ferrari rocket start a one-off

Kimi Raikkonen fears Ferrari's flying starts in the Australian Grand Prix were a one-off and is not expecting them to become the norm.

Both the Finn and teammate Sebastian Vettel flew past the Mercedes drivers off the line in Melbourne having started from the second row of the grid.

But Raikkonen reckons there is nothing special about Ferrari's starts that will make them regularly as strong as in Australia.

"It's a one-off," said Raikkonen. "It's one race. Hopefully it's like that always but it's not easy to make great starts always and especially because things are slightly different than last year, so it's even trickier for the teams and for the drivers with all the new rules.

"It seemed to work pretty well for us last race, but sometimes it depends when you have extra formation laps and things like that, so it's so many small things that can have a big effect.

"I wish it could be like that all the time but I really doubt it. We'll just try to do the maximum that we can and it will depend on what the others can do."

The Ferrari driver also dismissed suggestions that Ferrari had done anything radical with its new clutch paddle.

"It's the same place it has always been every year that I've driven the car," he said. "It is exactly the same so it's nothing new."
