Marlboro McLaren Mercedes today announced that it had entered into an agreement to secure for the team the services of Alain Prost in an innovative new role as part of the McLaren Mercedes Technical Group.

"Alain is unique amongst current drivers with his breadth of technical experience," said Ron Dennis. "He will be joining McLaren and Mercedes as a fully integrated part of the design and development technical group. Alain's duties will also include driving the MP4/11 as part of the ongoing development of the car, the engine and their associated systems. I believe Alain will make an extremely valuable and positive contribution to the team's performance."

His unrivalled experience with Grand Prix winning engines will be extremely valuable in the continuing development of the Mercedes V10."
