Not so long ago Jaguar was denying that Antonio Pizzonia's race seat was under threat but now the team has publicly said the Brazilian's position is being reconsidered. Former Williams test driver Pizzonia has had an erratic start to the season and after four races is being completely overshadowed by team mate Mark Webber. Jaguar is not yet ready to replace Pizzonia but it could happen if he doesn't improve very quickly.

"I don't think it is a great secret that Antonio's position is under review," Jaguar spokesman Nav Sidhu told The Guardian newspaper. "There are a lot of things about his performances so far this year that are causing us concern. The level of disparity between his performances and those of his teammate Mark Webber is alarming."

Pizzonia is due to go through rigorous testing ahead of next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in order to try and get him on a better footing: "We are going to work through a structured programme with him," said Sidhu. "If he can climb the same hill as Webber has done then we're going to be happy with him."

One possible replacement for the Brazilian is reportedly McLaren test driver Alex Wurz. However, after Justin Wilson's manager was seen in discussions with Jaguar's Tony Purnell at Imola, it seems the Minardi man may be in with a shot.

Minardi boss Paul Stoddart is not about to let go of Wilson, but if a deal can be cut with Jaguar in regard to Minardi's Cosworth engine supply, Stoddart would consider it. "He is under contract with me and I am going to hold on to him," he said of Wilson. "But I guess if there was an interesting offer on the engine front I would have to think about it."

Of course, Wilson's manager and Purnell could have just been discussing the weather.
