Lewis Hamilton – 9

This was a very strong overall performance from Hamilton, albeit one he really turned on when he stunned Bottas at the end of Q3. He again showed his supremacy at working the Pirelli rubber best in the race to take his record-breaking win, but his slips on lap one, added to a bit of overly cautious driving at that stage, just cost him a maximum score.

Valtteri Bottas – 6

This score might seem harsh, but Bottas just did exactly what our definition of a six requires and no more. In missing pole where he had looked to be the favourite and losing out with inferior tyre management skills to Hamilton – again – he just didn’t get the most out of the car or nail things when they really mattered.
