Craig Pollock believes Jacques Villeneuve should be in one of the top Formula One teams and would like to see the Canadian partner Michael Schumacher. Villeneuve is the only driver on the grid currently that has won the World Championship apart from five-time title holder Schumacher. Pollock, who manages Villeneuve, thinks the pairing would be good for F1.

"Jacques belongs on one of the top four teams," said Pollock at a press conference to promote a charity ski marathon, the Mt.Tremblant 24hrs, in which he and Villeneuve will take part.

"What I'd like to see is Schumacher and Villeneuve together -- not for Jacques or for Schumacher, but for the sport. They did it in the era of (Ayrton) Senna and (Alain) Prost. The only way when there's one team so far ahead is to have two drivers battle each other on the same team."

Villeneuve has only one more year of his contract with BAR and has struggled with an uncompetitive car. He won the title with Williams in 1997 but BAR has not been as good as hoped. Pollock was team principal of BAR but was replaced by David Richards at the end of 2001. Pollock believes the team expected too much, too soon.

"You always have regrets, but when we started BAR, it was a dream," he said. "We made mistakes. Our expectations were too high. If we could do it again, the first thing would be to keep expectations down. Walk before you run. You can't build a team like Ferrari in one year. You have to work at your own level."
