Jaguar Racing is continuing its young driver evaluation programme by running Williams test driver and F3000 star Antonio Pizzonia at Barcelona this week.

"We will be running Antonio Pizzonia at the Circuit de Catalunya this week as Jaguar Racing continues its driver development programme," commented Jaguar Racing spokesman Nav Sidhu. "As was the case with Mark (Webber) and Fernando (Alonso), we want to undertake this test in an effort to evaluate Antonio and in the process, evaluate all possible options available to us."

The young Brazilian, who has helped develop the WilliamsFW24 at numerous tests this season, is to drive the Jaguar R3 on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. De la Rosa will run for the team on Wednesday and hand over duties to Pizzonia on Thursday afternoon.

Eddie Irvine, who finished a brilliant third for Jaguar Racing in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, sits out this session with Barcelona local De la Rosa the obvious choice.

Pizzonia finished fifth in this year's F3000 series and is one of the most highly rated young drivers in single seat racing. He joins Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber as new drivers to have tested for Jaguar Racing in 2002.

The team is also running a parallel straightline test at Santa Pod with German Andre Lotterer at the wheel.
