Williams, Renault and BAR joined McLaren and Toyota for testing at Paul Ricard, France, on Wednesday and it was Williams tester Antonio Pizzonia who topped the times on the second day. Of the nine cars on track, the Brazilian set a best of 1:11.501 over 94 laps. Williams also had fellow tester Marc Gené on duty, fourth fastest.

Both drivers were behind the wheel of an FW26 chassis; Pizzonia worked on set up and tyre construction evaluations and Gené on tyre compounds. Ralf Schumacher is due to take over from Gené tomorrow.

BAR had test driver Anthony Davidson and race driver Takuma Sato present, second and third fastest, Davidson just a couple of tenths down on Pizzonia. The team's test schedule includes chassis, engine and tyre development. The McLaren duo of testers, Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Wurz, were fifth and sixth on the time sheet.

Renault also employed its test driver; Franck Montagny was eighth fastest and worked on tyres for the San Marino Grand Prix. Toyota was the fifth team present, with Ricardo Zonta seventh fastest and Ryan Briscoe rounded off the times.

Luca Badoer continued in solitary confinement at Mugello, the Ferrari tester racking up 101 laps and setting a best time of 1:20.836. Michael Schumacher takes over at Mugello tomorrow, while Badoer swaps to Fiorano.
