Jaguar Racing's new test driver Pedro de la Rosa made his debut today behind the wheel of the 2001 challenger, the R2. Pedro completed 48 laps of the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire and was joined by Tomas Scheckter who completed 28 laps in the 2000 R1B chassis. The three- day test is being used in pre paration for next week's Malaysian Grand Prix and covers aerodynamic and tyre testing work. Pedro will drive for all three days while Tomas will drive for two days.

Pedro de la Rosa
"I spent today undertaking a familiarization programme with the R2. It's good to be driving for Jaguar Racing and I'm looking forward to playing an integral role in the development of this year's car. With so much emphasis on tyres, my previous F1 experience should lend itself well to our tyre -testing programme with Michelin. We have another two days left at Silverstone and I'm looking forward to getting more mileage under my belt tomorrow."

Tomas Scheckter
"It was good to get back behind the wheel of an F1 car again. We did some set -up work today combined with some tyre testing. Working alongside Pedro was quite valuable and I look forward to getting back behind the wheel tomorrow."

Steve Nichols - Technical Director, Jaguar Racing

"Our main objective today was driver acclimatization work with Pedro. He's made a very solid st art to his test driver role with Jaguar Racing and we are impressed with his application and feedback. We focused on preliminary set -up work today and we'll move onto tyre testing work tomorrow. Given that Pedro was the only driver on the circuit today in a 2001 chassis, there's little point in reading into the lap times." <pre> Complete list of times / no. of laps: Best time Laps
