Arriving at his hometown press conference being held before this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, de la Rosa commented, "It's great to be able to finally get behind the wheel of the new Jaguar X-TYPE. Its presence at recent test sessions has caught my eye but there is never any time to go for a proper drive. Now that I have, I'm pleased to report it's very sporty, safe and sensuous -- everything a Jaguar should be."

De la Rosa, along with Jaguar Racing Team Principal Bobby Rahal, met with members of the Spanish press at the RACC Club in Barcelona. The 30-year old native of Barcelona was promoted from a testing role with the team to become Eddie Irvine's team-mate on 19 April. He will start his first race for the Jaguar Racing team at Sunday's 65-lap Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya close to Barcelona.

The new Jaguar X-TYPE all-wheel drive sports saloon goes on sale across Europe at the end of May this year.
