Second F1 test day at the Paul Ricard HTTT for the coming Monaco Grand Prix

Thursday, May 12th - McLaren Mercedes (Juan Pablo Montoya / Kimi Raikkonen), Panasonic Toyota Racing (Olivier Panis / Ricardo Zonta), Red Bull Racing (David Coulthard / Vitantonio Liuzzi), Renault F1 Team (Franck Montagny / Heiki Kovalainen) as well as Sauber Petronas (Jacques Villeneuve) carried-out their second test-day at the Paul Ricard HTTT.

Today again, the teams fully used the running time and accumulated a great number of kilometres on the 3,593 km 2D sc Short track solution. The five teams and nine drivers took advantage of the very good weather conditions with sunshine, and wind in the afternoon.

The brand new "Petit Beausset" corner is largely appreciated by the teams, the drivers and Michelin, as it provides similar conditions to the corner "La Rascasse" of the Monaco Grand Prix.

McLaren Mercedes and Renault F1 Team went on with their performance and endurance tyre testing also continuing evaluation and set-up programmes. Bar Honda decided to spare one test day and should be back for tomorrow Montreal configuration.

Jacques Villeneuve from Sauber Petronas took over Felipe Massa who flew back to Brasil yesterday evening. He continued the development focusing mainly on evaluating new aerodynamic parts and tyres performance.

Tomorrow, the teams will start to prepare the Canadian Grand Prix in Montréal, checking some particular strategic elements thanks to the 1Esc track solution (5,780km).
