The Daily Telegraph is reporting new moves to keep the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, whilst keeping ownership with the BRDC, but leasing the circuit to Brands Hatch Leisure.

Sir John Whitmore claims to be representing some 200 of the 521 full members of the BRDC, and is talking to BHL. Instead of BHLs offer of £43m for the club and a 50 year lease of the circuit, Whitmore is proposing the same sum for a 25 years lease and the BRDC keeping ownership of all it's propery and non-commercial activities.

Jerry Mahoney is quoted saying "We have proposed different terms to the original BHL offer and if there is significant support we will push for an EGM".

A spokesman for BHL has said "Our focus is to get planning permission for the Grand Prix". Interestingly, the planning permission for Brands Hatch, if it had been a formality, would have been granted last week.
