Juan Pablo Montoya has been voted one of the 2001 'Men of the Year' by the readers of a top Formula 1 magazine.

The results of the poll saw the Colombian top the popularity list for 'Overtaking manoeuvre of the year' and 'Personality of the year' beating by a landslide the likes of his peers such as David Coulthard (overtaking) and Bernie Ecclestone (personality)!

Juan Pablo, currently vacationing in Florida, was delighted with his two awards and took time out to thank his supporters:

"This is great! I was really suprised and pleased to hear that I had won this award. It shows that there is a lot of support out there for me and I really appreciate that. I would like to say 'thank you' to all the people who voted for me"

The magazine, F1 Racing, is the world's best-selling Formula One magazine and is on sale in 91 different countries, published in 15 different languages and has 20 different editions.

This is the second year of the F1 Racing MOTY (Man of the Year) award and they are the only F1 awards voted for by the readers/fans. The total number of votes cast to the dedicated MOTY internet site was 21,618.

Juan Pablo's two awards broke down as follows:

Overtaking manoeuvre of the year

Juan Pablo Montoya on Michael Schumacher (Brazil) - 57.77%.

Rubens Barrichello on David Coulthard (Hockenheim) - 24.54%.

Mika Hakkinen on Michael Schumacher (Silverstone) - 9.56%.

David Coulthard on Michael Schumacher (Brazil) 8.13%

Personality of the year

Juan Pablo Montoya - 50.15%

Eddie Irvine 19.91%

Niki Lauda 10.88%

Bernie Ecclestone 10.67%

Eddie Jordan 8.39%
