Testing duties resumed on Monday at Valencia, Spain, with McLaren, Williams, Jaguar and Renault present. The weather was dry, however the circuit was watered down every so often to allow Michelin to work on some wet weather conditions. McLaren's David Coulthard set the fastest time of the day, sixth tenths of a second ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya in the Williams. McLaren team mate Raikkonen finished in sixth.

Jenson Button and Jarno Trulli were in attendence for Renault and carried out extensive tyre work for Michelin - Trulli finishing in third ahead of Button in fifth.

"We had a very productive day's tasting,” said Mike Gascoyne, Renault's Technical Director.“ Running in wet conditions, we conducted several different programs for Michelin, and gathered lots of valuable information. The day was particularly useful for Jarno, who ran over 60 laps to further acclimatize himself to the team and the car."

Pedro de la Rosa and Eddie Irvine both ran R2s, although de la Rosa did bring the R3 out for a few laps every so often. Irvine suffered mechanical problems in the morning but finished in fourth ahead of de la Rosa in seventh.

"It was good to get some more time in the R3 today,” Pedro said on the team's official website, www.jaguar-racing.com.“ We didn't really do much wet weather testing because we had plenty of that in Barcelona. Instead we concentrated on running the car with different levels of downforce.”
