LEDBURY, ENGLAND, June 12, 2001 -- The Donington circuit will reverberate to the sound of Grand Prix engines on full song this Thursday as European Minardi's exciting two-seater Formula One programme roars into action.
The team will have four of its fleet of eight, V10-powered, F1-specification chassis present to allow a group of VIPs and sponsor representatives to become part of an elite band of individuals who have experienced the truly breathtaking acceleration, braking and cornering of a modern Grand Prix car unleashed on a circuit worthy of its performance. For these lucky passengers, it is safe to say this will be the experience of a lifetime.
Acting as high-speed "chauffeurs" on this occasion will be regular European Minardi F1 driver, Tarso Marques, back in Europe after his ninth-place finish in last Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix, European Minardi F3000 drivers, Andrea Piccini and David Saelens, and for the lucky few, European Minardi boss, Paul Stoddart!
"I'm really looking forward to the first of our F1x2 days at Donington," says Stoddart. "Quite apart from the thrill of driving these cars, it gives all of us a huge amount of pleasure to be able to let our passengers experience the performance of a modern Grand Prix car. It is the closest most 'normal' individuals will ever come to experiencing Formula One for themselves, and the looks on the faces of passengers as they climb out of the cars are usually priceless!
"This sort of activity also allows us to demonstrate, in the most graphic way possible, how the F1x2 programme is part of a unique marketing and promotional package that European Minardi can offer to sponsors and partners. It's a winner, however you look at it."
