Mika Salo (FIN), who finished sixth in the Australian Grand Prix, has been disqualified from the race.

The front wing on Salo's Sauber-Petronas was measured in the post-race scrutineering and found to be out of conformance by 20 mm.

The steward's official statement notes that the Sauber team accepts that the car did not conform to Article 3.11 of the 2000 FIA Formula One Technical regulations.

Salo spent much of the race battling with Jacques Villeneuve (5th); his disqualification now elevates Villeneuve's teammate, Ricardo Zonta, to sixth place and into the points.
