The car in which Michael Schumacher won his first World Championship title in is to go up for auction on the internet this week. The Benetton-Ford B194 which Schumacher drove to victory in 1994 will go under the hammer at Ebay, the online auction giant. The lot also includes an operational Ford-Zetec V8 engine, Benetton team clothing and fireproof racewear. Bidding will commence on Wednesday, lasting for 10 days.

The reserve price on the car has not been revealed but presumably there will be no shortage of bidders for the car. Schumacher won his first championship when he took victory at Adelaide, the last race of the season. However, it is not certain that the car being auctioned is actually the machine used in Adelaide: after the deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna that year, rule changes meant teams used many models developed from the base chassis design.
