Norbert Haug, the head of the Mercedes F1 engine program, has confirmed that McLaren will remain the exclusive user of the German-American company's engines in Formula One.

Denying speculation that another team, such as Prost, might get the use of the top-notch engines for the 2001 team, Haug said, "We have discussed it [with Ron Dennis] and we don't have the capacity."

In the past, Dennis has implied that he would not be opposed to Mercedes supplying Prost with engines, but clearly the ability of the DaimlerChrysler program to effectively support McLaren must come first, despite the long relationship between Alain Prost and Ron Dennis.
