Back behind the wheel after an extended winter break, Michael Schumacher is happy to be on track again. The current champion resumed testing at Barcelona yesterday and was impressed with the times being set by McLaren: "I hope it's going to be a good season but looking at the times set by McLaren, they're looking good, " he told the British press.

The German was so excited about driving again that he spun off on his opening lap and rear-ended the F2002 into the barriers. "I am very happy to be back," Schumacher enthused. "I'm like a child who has been given a new toy even if it is the old car we are using. Driving still gives me a lot of excitement. I love racing and it's fantastic to be back. I was itching to drive and when I went out the track was wet and cold -- difficult conditions. I wasn't pushing very hard but just lost control."

Schumacher was non-committal about the changes that have been made in the rules for this season, but the new qualifying system is to his liking: "The changes to the rules are mostly OK," he remarked. "In fact, the changes to the qualifying are rather in my favour, because I'm good at putting in a fast lap right at the beginning."

The main thing he was disappointed about was the loss of Spa Francorchamps, the Belgian Grand Prix track: "I find it sad that Spa has been crossed off the calendar, because this circuit brings back a lot of great memories," he said. Schumacher had his Formula One debut and his maiden victory at the Spa circuit.
