Team McLaren Mercedes' second test of the winter got under way at the Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain today with test driver Pedro de la Rosa and DTM Champion Gary Paffett behind the wheel of two MP4-20B interim cars.

Following the Barcelona test last week work continued on development and assessment of the Mercedes-Benz V8 engine and Michelin tyres. Today's programme was completed successfully and without incident. Both Pedro and Gary covered 169 laps and 749km in total today.

Pedro de la Rosa was seventh quickest with a time of 1m20.371, whilst Gary Paffett, who completed his second test day for Team McLaren Mercedes following his victory in the DTM championship this year, was 11th overall and set a fastest time of 1m20.746.

Testing continues tomorrow with Alex Wurz due to join Gary Paffett in Jerez.
