After scrutineering in Sao Paulo, the McLaren of David Coulthard was disqualified from the race after it was found that the front wing end plate breached Article 3.7 by 2 mm. The team has put out a statement saying that there was "structural damage to both the underbody and chassis... the front wing end plates had rotated about their axis". The team went on to say that this was caused by "heavy amount of bottoming and vibration induced by the nature of the Sao Paulo circuit". The team has lodged an appeal against the disqualification.
