Formula 1 fans have flocked to social media after an interview with American Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar has gone viral.

After Fallon kicked off the interaction, Verstappen said, “I love being here,” before the TV host continued: “Max Verstappen, like Ver-stopping at the store, Ver-stopping to get coffee, you know?” But it was the four-time champion’s quick response that had left fans in stitches.

“Ver-stopping this interview,” the Dutchman joked with a deadpan look on his face.

Fans clearly had fun in the comments. “Gonna get a Max Verslappin' if he doesn't pack it in,” one fan said on Reddit, while another added: “The sarcasm on that ‘I loove being here’ lmao.”

“Verstappen should start doing The Office thing whenever he does interviews like these. Say something sarcastic and then look at the camera,” wrote someone else, and another fan commented: “Wow the Verstopping nonsense was soo forced. I am feeling the 2nd hand embarrassment through the screen.”

Other comments included: “Jimmy Fallon will never be ready for Max and his sarcasms. Max totally nailed it,” and “Max made a better punchline than Jimmy and he wasn't even trying.”

The interaction was part of a bigger collaboration between Fallon and Ford, with the interview with the Red Bull drivers obviously being scripted.

Fallon’s moment with the pair wasn’t his only appearance during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. The 51-year-old had one of the most bizarre interactions with former F1 driver and Sky Sports analyst Martin Brundle during the grid walk ahead of the race at the Hard Rock Stadium. After he was asked for some ‘funny lines’, he proceeded to take the microphone from Brundle and bite the cover. Taken aback by the moment, Brundle responded, “Don’t do that again.”

Later, after the race, Brundle took to social media to comment on the moment that had already gone viral. "In 30 years of broadcasting I’ve never wondered what a branded microphone sock tastes like. There’s some very funny people around,” he wrote.
