Felipe Massa has reportedly settled terms with Jordan to take the remaining race seat with the team for 2003 and is only waiting for the deal to be signed. According to Massa's press officer, Marcio Fonseca, the Brazilian driver is anxious for things to be finalized, which he hopes will be by the end of this week.

"In terms of negotiations it has all been settled," Fonseca told Reuters. "The terms have been settled. The only thing missing is for him to sign. We imagine they (Jordan) are talking to other drivers. On our side everything is ready, it should happen before the end of the week. Felipe Massa is anxious for it to be resolved."

Eddie Irvine recently dropped out of the running, leaving Massa and Ralph Firman favourites for the Jordan seat. However, no matter how close someone thinks they are, a deal is not done until it's signed on the dotted line.

Recently Dutch DTM driver Christijan Albers was in a similar situation with Minardi -- the details hammered out and only the contract to sign. Two days later it all fell through and Jos Verstappen got the drive.

Massa is favourite for the Jordan role, even Firman thinks so, due to the financial backing the ex-Sauber man can bring with him. Jordan is apparently still in discussion with other drivers but one way or another an announcement should be made in the very near future.
