Toro Rosso's Vitantonio Liuzzi has been penalized 25 seconds for overtaking Spyker's Adrian Sutil under yellow flags during the Japanese Grand Prix. Liuzzi, who had finished eighth and scored one point, therefore has to hand over the position and the point to Sutil, who had finished ninth.

"For sure I think we deserved this point after all the hard work this year and we finally got it," said Sutil. "It is a great feeling, even if we didn't get it on the track. I think it was the right decision, there was no green flag after this yellow flag from turn one, so we were definitely right and that is why we got this point."

Critically, that point will move Spyker into ninth place in the constructors' chaampionship, likely giving the Dutch team a greater share of the all-important TV revenues for the 2008 season.

Toro Rosso is to appeal the penalty.
